The congregation of Emaus ELCA was originally founded in 1851 in Racine, Wisconsin…We pride ourselves as welcoming our neighbors, all of them. We started out as a Danish/Norwegian congregation and now we are an Anglo/Latino congregation.

Emaus ELCA’s “EASY” after-school youth program has provided elementary school students with teen and adult mentors, anti-bullying education and mediation for resolving conflicts. For almost ten years, Emaus’ neighborhood outreach has grown to include a Latino ministry for Racine, offering Sunday worship in Spanish followed by a meal. Midweek opportunities include a music school for kids, an after school program, bible studies, a meal and a kid-friendly worship service.
2020 UPDATE: COVID forced the temporary shuttering in March 2020 of several important programs, both social assistance programs and religious instructional classes. Emaus was able to stay in touch with students – continuing a successful reading program virtually – and were able to resume their after-school programming online in the fall.
