A collaborative, creative community outreach ministry with the children of Racine.
ELCA Neighborhood Camp website
This camp was created to offer free, multi-site, summertime Christian programming to children of the unemployed and “working poor” in the urban neighborhoods of Racine, including “God Time” worship, and opportunities for teens to be employed as camp staff and helpers.
2020 UPDATE: The pandemic turned the neighborhood camp into a virtual online event for 2020. With the camp’s purchase of 100 Chromebooks, campers did not have to be turned away for lack of technology! And, in the process of learning a new way to provide food for online participants, a new food ministry was born.
