Kim’s Closet and Dinner Church (at St. Paul’s) both address the physical need of a warm, nutritious meal, as well as the emotional basic needs of connection and dignity. Welcoming folks into community around the table at Kim’s Closet and Dinner Church responds to their congregation’s hunger for community engagement, as well as their neighbors’ assets of connection and generosity. Through the process of “shopping” for clothing, neighbors are treated with dignity and are given the opportunity to choose what they need. Through these experiences, the people of St. Paul’s are blessed by the generous spirit of their neighbors, who freely share their lives and stories in the context of communities created by Kim’s Closet and Dinner Church.
