This year, we’ve challenged the Outreach for Hope community of supporters to help us raise $165K to fully fund grants to our 2023 Ministry Partners. 100% of your gift is shared with our Ministry Partners in the form of yearly grants.
So far, we’ve raised $130.7K towards that goal (79% of the way there!). That leaves just under $35K to raise in the next two weeks, before donations close on Monday, Oct. 31 at 11:59pm! Can you help with an extra-mile gift?
The ELCA Lutheran ministries we support operate in neighborhoods where many face income insecurity, especially as we witness the cost of living rise sharply. These Ministry Partners not only provide help with daily necessities like food and clothing pantries, addiction counseling and medical clinics, and youth and senior programs; they are centers of transformation and hope in the heart of their communities.
We hope that all of our supporters, regardless of age, will consider an extra-mile donation to help make this year’s event a success. But if you’ve celebrated more than 70 years of life, and have an IRA Retirement Fund, you may be able to help in a special way.
As you may know, you may be required to distribute a minimum portion (“Required Minimum Distribution,” or RMD) of your IRA this fall. Did you know you can avoid the normal hefty tax burden by designating that amount to be distributed upfront as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to our Ride Run Walk fundraiser?
Even though we accept QCD donations all year long, If you make this distribution before October 31, you can help us reach our event goal! To learn more, talk to your tax advisor or IRA fund custodian – and please remember that QCDs need to come from the actual fund, not from you as a personal check.
